Portable solutions for outdoor events: kiosks, tents and canopies for your summer events

Outdoor events are booming in Quebec — corporate festivals, summer markets, company sports tournaments, open house days in parking lots.
For businesses, it's a golden opportunity to establish a visual presence in a less formal, more accessible, and often very busy environment. But indoor display solutions aren't suitable for outdoor use. Wind, direct sunlight, unexpected rain, uneven terrain—the outdoors presents very different challenges.
The specific challenges of outdoor advertising
The main enemy of your outdoor equipment is the wind. A standard retractable banner can be knocked over or damaged by even a moderate breeze. A fabric backdrop, without a proper frame, can easily become a sail. Therefore, you must choose solutions specifically designed for outdoor environments.
Other challenges to anticipate include: direct sunlight (which affects the readability of light prints), humidity (which can warp some materials), and uneven surfaces (grass, asphalt, gravel) which complicate installation.
The event tent: your outdoor brand space
The pop-up tent (common sizes: 10x10 and 10x20 feet) is the basic solution for any outdoor kiosk. It provides protection from the sun and light inclement weather while offering a large display area on the side walls and front valance.
Options to consider: tent with side walls printed with your Valence branding (front stripe) with logo and slogan, weights or stakes to stabilize in case of moderate wind, and branded tablecloth to complete the space.
A well-designed tent is visible from afar in a busy outdoor space — it catches the eye even before visitors read your name.
Flags and pennants: visibility from above
Unlike indoor retractable banners, feather flags (also called plume flags or lace flags) are specifically designed for outdoor use.
Their arched shape allows them to move with the wind without tipping over, and they are visible from afar thanks to their height (between 6 and 20 feet).
Typical uses: site entrance, space demarcation, directional signage at an event. They can be planted directly in the ground (ground stake), fixed to a concrete base, or mounted on a counter leg for hard surfaces.
Durable outdoor banners
For banners attached to existing structures (fences, railings, facades), choose banners made of vinyl with a tarpaulin backing and grommets for attachment. This material is much more resistant to water, wind, and UV rays than untreated paper or fabric banners.
Practical tips for your outdoor installation
Arrive 30 to 45 minutes earlier than planned. Check the weather forecast the day before and adjust your setup accordingly (reduce the windward area if strong winds are predicted). Test your tent setup at home before the big day. Always have a backup plan in case of sudden rain.
